New Customer Acquisition Strategies
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 — 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The Hotel Nikko, San Francisco

For most catalog and ecommerce businesses, acquiring profitable new customers is the top priority — both to replace customers lost to natural attrition and to grow the business. This seminar is designed to give you the tools and information you need to expand and refine your current customer acquisition tactics and stay up-to-date with current trends. Throughout the day, we will examine and highlight a wide range of strategies and tactics that business, retail, and consumer catalog and Internet companies can use to help maintain and grow that all-important customer file, including:

  • The latest trends in co-op database marketing
  • The prospect database: What is it, how does it work, and why is it important
  • Using search engine marketing—both paid and organic (non-paid)—as a prospecting tool
  • Alternative prospecting channels, including infomercials, package inserts, FSIs, co-op wraps, and remnant space (print and radio)
  • The future of customer acquisition: Using new technologies (RSS, blogging, podcasting, wireless messaging and more) to find new customers
  • The importance of tracking multi-channel orders, and how to set up a system that works

Finally, we’ll wrap up the day with roundtable break-out sessions to allow catalog and e-commerce professionals to brainstorm and share insights in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. (These roundtables, moderated by Jodi Watson, Vice President of Direct Marketing Services at Williams-Sonoma, are for representatives of catalog and ecommerce companies only. Vendors will have an opportunity to network in their own separate roundtable session.)
