Facebook and LinkedIn for Business

I have the pleasure of representing the Silicon Valley American Marketing Association (SVAMA) as a presenter for the Inbound Marketing University. Inbound Marketing has worked with a host of partners in online marketing and social-media networks. I'm honored to be in the company of such thought leaders in social media. Inbound Marketing UniversityI'll be doing a webinar on using LinkedIn and Facebook for business. Aside from just the how-tos of using both sites, we will talk about best strategies for each, how to approach social media for business in general, and we'll share insights we have gleaned from 2 years of experience with our own site, our clients, and the wealth of speakers that have presented over time at our SVAMA Morning forurm on Web 2.0.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION:
Where does social media fit into an overall marketing plan?
ANSWER:
In a nutshell, the answer is "Push vs. Pull." The majority of marketing efforts by any organization will be "push" oriented: the enterprise is sending out its message about products, offers, brand identity, and news to their current customers and target audience. But the consumer has started to do their own Web publishing or commenting on blogs and a variety of social media and online videos, and they are more in charge of the media in which they engage. So the balance of power has shifted in a major way, from the enterprise and brand being in charge, to the consumer developing their own perception of that brand. Our message to our clients is "Your brand is already being talked about — now go out and participate in the conversation." Both push and pull are critical to any brand's success. Learning how to use both is where the art comes in.
